Qnovo, a provider of battery management software for electric vehicles, announced a partnership with NXP® Semiconductors, a provider of secure connectivity solutions for embedded applications. NXP will offer Qnovo's EV innovation SpectralX©, intelligent battery management system (BMS) software that uses predictive analytics to improve battery performance, range, and safety in select EVs using lithium-ion batteries, in its electric vehicle (EV) support solutions in 2023.

Qnovo will work with NXP to develop a reference design to ensure seamless integration of Qnovo's software with NXP's BMS and on-board charger hardware. The proven design means that software, hardware and tools work together to reduce the development cost of electric vehicles. In addition, the design allows for fast charging without compromising battery health. spectralX also adds predictive capabilities to the NXP BMS and supports battery replacement. spectralX's small memory footprint allows room for additional features, while NXP Secure Boot prevents code tampering and enables secure code delivery.
SpectralX is a pure software solution that resides on top of a manufacturer's existing BMS as an application layer in the operating system, with a small footprint and can be deployed in vehicles within weeks. By adding Battery Genome©, Qnovo's database of battery chemistries and manufacturers' battery models, it helps automate the battery selection process and save time on battery quality qualification.
Our partnership with NXP will help address some of the major barriers to adoption in the electric vehicle market, particularly in emerging markets," said Nadim Maluf, CEO and co-founder of Qnovo. This partnership builds on our work with the world's top automotive OEMs to address mileage anxiety, safety and battery charging times."
