Renesas Electronics Completes Acquisition of Steradian

        Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723) today announced that it has completed the acquisition of Steradian Semiconductors Private Limited ("Steradian"), a fabless semiconductor company providing 4D imaging radar solutions, as of October 17, 2022.         Steradian, headquartered in Bangalore, India, is a startup founded in 2016 that provides radar solutions that enable high precision object recognition and power efficiency in a small footprint. Radar is a critical technology for ADAS, which uses a complex combination of sensors in a vehicle to detect objects. Renesas Electronics plans to build on the high-growth opportunities offered by the automotive radar market and expand its automotive portfolio with Steradian's radar technology and expand its presence in the radar market.
 
        The resulting automotive radar solutions will combine new automotive radar products, Renesas' ADAS SoCs for processing radar signals, power management ICs (PMICs) and timing products, and software for object recognition. These solutions will simplify automotive radar system design and help accelerate product development.
        Upon completion of the acquisition, Steradian has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Renesas Electronics. The combination of Steradian's outstanding radar technology and engineering talent will strengthen Renesas' sensing solutions in a wide range of applications, including industrial systems. Renesas Electronics will bring together a superior portfolio of products and software to meet the growing demand for sensor technology solutions and continue its commitment to making design easier for engineers.
