Renesas Electronics Selects Altium as Unified PCB Development Tool and Accelerates Solution Design for Partners and Customers

Renesas Electronics (TSE: 6723), a global provider of semiconductor solutions, today announced a partnership with Altium, LLC, a global software vendor based in San Diego, California, to standardize the development of all printed circuit board (PCB) designs on the cloud-based platform Altium 365.
Renesas currently employs multiple PCB design tools company-wide, in part because the different businesses it has acquired over the past few years have brought their own legacy software to the company. As Renesas integrates components from different product groups into system solutions as "successful product portfolios," a unified PCB design tool will simplify board design for demonstrating and evaluating these "successful product portfolios" as well as all other product suites. This reduces design complexity, improves system cost structure, and speeds time to market.
Renesas' "Success Portfolio" is an engineering-proven solution that integrates embedded processing, analog, power and connectivity products, allowing customers to use this high-level platform to implement design concepts, shorten product development cycles and reduce the overall risk of bringing designs to market. Renesas now offers more than 400 Success Portfolios to a wide range of customers and markets.
Altium 365 is the ideal cloud-based PCB design platform. With Altium 365, users are able to collaborate with design stakeholders and other participants while securing IP and keeping designs under version control. Users can organize designs, libraries, and participants in one location, while sharing design links for real-time collaboration. Data can be stored and accessed online with the unique CAD Intelligence feature. Renesas will publish ECAD libraries for all its products to the Altium Public Vault, and with features such as Manufacturer Component Search on Altium 365, customers can select Renesas components directly from the Altium library to reduce time-to-market.

This unification of ECAD tools is the first step.
