South Korean media reported on February 6 that Samsung Electronics was short of manpower in the 3nm wafer manufacturing process, so the company has reallocated manpower from the 130nm and 65nm wafer manufacturing process.
Samsung responded to this rumor on Jiwei.com: This news is not consistent with the facts, and the company will continue to expand mature process applications.
According to South Korean media reports, industry observers said that Samsung would no longer accept orders for 130nm and 65nm chips from small and medium-sized IC design companies in South Korea in the plan of reallocating manpower. Samsung clarified that the company will continue to expand the application of mature process, and at the same time, the company is stabilizing the manpower of advanced process nodes such as 3nm.
In response, Samsung Electronics took the following official positions:
Recently, some media reported that Samsung stopped accepting mature manufacturing orders due to the shortage of 3nm manufacturing technology and manpower. This news is inconsistent with the facts and misleads the market. Mature manufacturing process is an important part of Samsung's wafer foundry business, and Samsung will continue to expand its application. At the same time, we are doing our best to strengthen Samsung's technological competitiveness by stabilizing the manpower of advanced manufacturing nodes such as 3nm.
