Following TSMC's $12 billion Arizona plant, Samsung Electronics has announced it will build a new semiconductor plant in Tyler, Texas, with an estimated investment of $17 billion, according to TheELec.
The latest reports from foreign media indicate that Samsung Electronics has already started ordering the equipment needed for the clean room for the new chip factory being built in Tyler.
According to the report, Samsung Electronics has ordered the system roofing materials, outdoor air conditioning and other equipment needed before the construction of the clean room, and the relevant manufacturers have received the order from Samsung Electronics, which will be delivered in January next year.
However, the foreign media mentioned in the report that Samsung Electronics has not yet ordered fan filtration units and other core equipment needed for the cleanroom for the new chip factory in Texas, but the foreign media expects it to be ordered in the first half of next year.
Samsung Electronics' new chip factory in Tyler, Texas, which was officially announced on November 23 last year, is scheduled to be operational in the second half of 2024 and will use advanced process technology to manufacture products for smartphones, 5G, high-performance computing, artificial intelligence and other fields after completion.
