SMIC announces 51.7 billion yuan to build a new factory

        After the rise of Huawei, Americans deeply realized the importance of the Electronic Component industry chain for the first time, in order to enhance their technological leadership in the chip industry chain, and at the same time to prevent the development of China's Electronic Component industry. The United States has introduced a chip bill with a huge subsidy of up to 280 billion US dollars, of which 52.7 billion US dollars of the budget is directly subsidized to chip manufacturers to attract them to build factories in the United States. But the additional condition is that in the next 10 years, China will not be allowed to invest in and build factories. This "choose one" method is equivalent to forcing chip manufacturers to stand in line.
        The US has restricted Huawei's chip supply, which has put Huawei in a passive situation where no chips are available. It also severely affected Huawei's consumer business, especially its smartphone business. It is worth mentioning that the goal of Laomei is not just a Huawei company. Laos and the United States signed a new chip bill, requiring "related companies" not to expand advanced process fabs in the Chinese market for the next 10 years. Obviously, Laomei wants to rely on the advantages of chip technology to "kill" Chinese chips in all directions.
        It is undeniable that this has had a great impact on the development of Chinese chips. In addition to Huawei, many domestic chip-related companies have been "stuck". The EUV optical technology purchased by SMIC cannot be implemented, and TSMC cannot continue to provide Huawei. Foundry, it is no exaggeration to say that the balance of the global semiconductor industry has been broken.
        In order to solve the problem of stuck neck, SMIC suddenly announced that it will spend 51.7 billion yuan to build a 180nm-28nm chip factory in Tianjin, with a planned monthly production capacity of up to 100,000 pieces! In fact, SMIC has been frantically expanding its production capacity with only one purpose, that is, to strive to achieve the goal of localizing 70% of its chips by 2025.
        In this regard, some media have given very sharp comments, saying that the United States is transferring TSMC's high-end chip industry to the United States, and Taiwan will gradually lose the high-end chip foundry, a pillar industry, in the future, and the United States will completely grasp the hegemony of the chip industry. On the other hand, there are many options for the foundry of low-end chips, and SMIC is not inferior to TSMC at all. The high-end chip foundry is occupied by the United States, and the low-end chip foundry has no advantage. TSMC is about to be "dismembered"!
