South Korea Plans to Release a Roadmap for Independent Development of Auto Chips next Month

        At present, South Korea's dependence on imported auto chips is as high as 98%, and the continuous shortage of global auto chips led to more than 100000 cars blocked from local production in South Korea last year.
        According to BusinessKorea, the roadmap may include a chip performance evaluation and certification project. From the beginning of this year to 2024, 25 billion won will be invested, and the support for automobile chip design enterprises will also be increased. At the same time, new energy vehicles, autonomous vehicle and other related technologies will receive research and development tax relief, and investors in automobile facilities will also receive subsidies in the future.
        South Korea aims to occupy at least 10% of the global automotive chip market by 2030. In addition, the government plans to increase the number of Fabless and Unicorn enterprises to at least 300 and 5 respectively in the same year. The road map may include relevant details.
In addition, the South Korean government also plans to invest 1 trillion won in smart semiconductors and 400 billion won in memory processing technology research and development projects. In order to train more semiconductor engineers, the government plans to carry out cooperation projects between the government and the private sector from this year.
