Stellantis and Infineon signed a chip supply agreement worth more than 1 billion euros

        On Monday (14th), German chip manufacturer Infineon issued a statement saying that it had signed a non binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with global automobile manufacturer Stellantis to provide silicon carbide semiconductor for many years.
        According to the agreement, Infineon will reserve capacity from 2025 to 2030 to directly provide power semiconductors to Stellantis suppliers.
 
        Infineon said that the agreement may involve chips worth more than 1 billion euros (1.03 billion US dollars), and added that these chips will be used in Stellantis brand electric vehicles.
        The shortage of chips in the past few years has forced global automobile manufacturers to cancel the production plans of millions of cars. Carlos Tavares, CEO of Stellantis, told Le Parisien, a French newspaper, last month that he expected the semiconductor supply chain to remain tense until the end of next year.
