STMicroelectronics (ST; NYSE:STM), a leading global semiconductor company serving multiple electronics applications, has launched its 100W wireless charging receiver chip, the industry's highest power-rated wireless charging receiver chip for the fastest wireless charging on the market today. Using ST's new chip STWLC99, a high-end smartphone with the largest battery capacity can be fully charged in less than 30 minutes.

Today, cell phones are an important part of digital life and an important business tool for many people," said Francesco Italia, general manager of ST's Analog Custom Products Division. Our STWLC99 can dramatically increase charging speed, improve wireless charger availability and bring more benefits to users' lives. The chip's unprecedented power handling capability also changes the outlook for battery-powered devices such as industrial tools, medical monitoring, drug pumps, mobile robots, drones and more, extending device life and reducing charging times."
In addition to improving user convenience, high-power wireless charging technology allows designers to create industrial devices without power outlets and power cords, bringing a variety of benefits to end users. Eliminating charging sockets saves board space and enhances the waterproof or dustproof sealing of equipment, facilitating operation in challenging environments.
Wireless charging technology can avoid the annoying problem of tangled wires. Devices such as robots and drones that move independently can be easily charged without the need for machine or manual connection of charging cables.
STWLC99 is available in a 4.859m x 4.859mm wafer-level chip package (WLCSP) and is now in volume production.
