It is reported that this is not the first time Toyota has reduced production capacity plans. On May 10, Toyota issued a production note, saying that due to the impact of the epidemic in Shanghai, China, from May 16-21, the suspension of domestic production work in 8 factories, and 14 production lines. In May, Toyota's global car production was thus reduced from the original 750,000 units to 700,000 units.
According to the plan, Toyota plans to achieve an average monthly production of 850,000 units worldwide from June to August. Now it seems that the production in July and August will continue to be affected. Officials said that the company "has difficulty looking ahead" due to factors such as chip shortages and the spread of the epidemic, the company will continue to make every effort to deliver as many vehicles as possible to customers as soon as possible.
In February, Toyota lowered its production forecast for the fiscal year 2023 (April 1, 2022-March 31, 2023) from 9 million units to 8.5 million units. Judging from the current development, such a capacity situation is still not optimistic.
A few days ago, Toyota Motor said, of the negative impact of the semiconductor shortage, the company will cut about 100,000 units of global car production plan in June, after the reduction in June production capacity will reach about 850,000 units.
