TSMC: Professional team in charge of 2nm research and development

        Foundry TSMC said on August 17 that it has a professional team in charge of 2nm R&D, and the details of the staffing arrangement have not been disclosed.
 
 
        Media reports said that TSMC has set up a 2nm task force, mobilizing 800 people for the first time to synchronize the north and south, sprinting in China Taiwan Hsinchu Baoshan and Kaohsiung plant synchronous trial production and mass production. 
        In response, TSMC said it has a professional team responsible for 2nm R&D work, but did not disclose the details of the staffing arrangements.
        TSMC originally planned to establish two plants in Kaohsiung, including 7nm and 28nm plant, but in response to market demand adjustment, Kaohsiung plant to determine the introduction of advanced 2nm process. 
        Previously, TSMC president Wei Zhejia said, TSMC advanced process following the 3nm mass production in Nanko, will be committed to expanding production capacity, 2nm plant is under construction, is expected to mass production in 2025, he first revealed the next generation of 1.4nm process will also be mass production in China and Taiwan. 
        Compared to the Longtan Park expansion plan to 2nm and below for the station, the industry estimates that Longtan expansion plan is TSMC 1.4nm process plant site, is expected to be built in 2026, mass production between 2007 and 2008.
