Recently, Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE stock code: VSH) announced the introduction of the industry's advanced standard rectifier and transient voltage suppressor (TVS) two-in-one device --- R3T2FPHM3, for automotive applications to provide a new surface-mount solution. Vishay General Semiconductor R3T2FPHM3 using oxide planar chip junction design and common cathode circuit configuration, 3 A, 600 V standard rectifier and 200 W TRANSZORB ® TVS combination in a small FlatPAK 5 x 6 package.

The recently released devices operate at temperatures from -55 °C to +175 °C and are suitable for a variety of high-reliability automotive applications, including secondary protection for sensor units, distributed airbag modules, and low-power DC/DC converters under power dividers. The two-chip solution combines two different technologies in a single package, saving PCB space, simplifying layout, and reducing overall cost for these applications. In series with a standard TVS, the R3T2FPHM3 provides designers with a complete low clamp voltage ratio > 24 V solution.
The two-in-one device's rectifier forward voltage is reduced to 0.86 V, helping to reduce power loss and improve efficiency, and the TVS has a breakdown voltage of 27 V. The R3T2FPHM3's ESD capability is in accordance with the IEC 61000-4-2 standard (air and contact discharge modes); the MSL humidity sensitivity level is rated to Class 1 as specified by J-STD-020, with a maximum peak LF of 260 °C; molded fire rating to UL 94 V-0. Devices are RoHS compliant, halogen free, and AEC-Q101 certified.

The R3T2FPHM3 is now available for sampling and mass production with a 12-week lead time.
