Vishay Introduces Thick Film Power Resistor with Optional NTC Thermistor and PC-TIM to Simplify Design, Save Board Space and Reduce Costs

        Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. announced the release of the ISOA, a new AEC-Q200 certified thick film power resistor in a small SOT-227 package that can be mounted directly on a heat sink. 120 W, optional NTC thermistors for internal temperature monitoring and pre-coated phase change thermal interface material (PC-TIM) for improved placement efficiency.
 
 
        ISOA has the option to integrate an AEC-Q200 certified, temperature cycled NTC thermistor into the resistor package, simplifying design and saving board space, with the option of PC-TIM for increased production process placement efficiency.
        The high power and energy dissipation of the device simplifies design and reduces the number of power devices required, resulting in lower costs. The resistors have a high energy pulse handling capability (up to 110 J / 0.1 s) and have passed 3,000 230 J / 670 ms and 5,000 350 J / 1060 ms multi-pulse cycles, making them suitable for a wide range of applications with high energy and repetitive surge pulses. In addition, the devices are available with customer-specific tests. 
        The ISOA resistors have a resistance range of 0.47 Ω to 1 MΩ, tolerances of ± 5 % and ± 10 % and TCRs of ± 100 ppm/K, ± 150 ppm/K and ± 300 ppm/K. The resistors have a maximum operating voltage of 1500 V, an operating temperature range of -55 °C to +150 °C and a dielectric strength of 4000 Vrms. The devices are RoHS compliant and have a non-inductive design and can include two different resistors. The new resistors are available in sample and mass production with a lead time of 15 weeks.
