Achronix Semiconductor, a leader in high-performance field-programmable logic gate arrays (FPGAs) and embedded FPGAs (eFPGAs) semiconductor intellectual property (IP), announced that it has acquired key IP assets from Accolade Technology, as well as Accolade's technical team, in a move that enables Achronix's Accolade has deep expertise in networking applications for FPGAs, and the acquisition enables Achronix to offer robust hardware and software solutions to customers developing networking technologies.

"Today, chip designers are being asked to deliver solutions that are flexible, high performance and capable of rapid time-to-market, and solving these challenges is simultaneously a complex process that Accolade's FPGA IP can significantly accelerate." Steve Mensor, vice president of marketing and strategic planning at Achronix, said. "Our acquisition of Accolade's IP assets and expertise allows Achronix customers to focus on creating their value-added capabilities and to deliver solutions faster, easier and more cost effectively than ever before, and customers will benefit greatly from this."
Achronix has acquired Accolade's Ethernet FPGA IP portfolio, which provides a full-featured Ethernet shell (shell) for Achronix's Speedster FPGA, VectorPath accelerator card and Speedcore eFPGA products. This network processing shell provides packet processing, load balancing and traffic processing for customer-internally developed IP function modules. accolade's IP combined with Achronix's solution can be used in any SmartNIC application.
"We are excited to be a part of Achronix," said Jon Sreekanth, Accolade's Chief Technology Officer. "Combining Achronix and Accolade's technology will significantly reduce time to market for SmartNIC designs and make Accolade IP available to a broader customer base, furthering the development of SmartNIC solutions."
