According to reports, the German Enterprise Joint Administration (German cartel office) said in a statement on November 7, has approved Bosch, Infineon and NXP to participate in TSMC's new semiconductor plant in Dresden, Germany (Dresden).

The German Enterprise Joint Administration said the three companies will acquire 10% of the shares of European Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (ESMC), a semiconductor company set up by TSMC.
Andreas Mundt, head of Germany's Joint Administration of Enterprises, said in a statement, "Recent turbulent geopolitics have shown how important it is to secure semiconductor supplies, especially for the German industry." Mundt added that both the EU and Germany are committed to bringing more semiconductor production to Europe and Germany.
TSMC, the world's largest chip foundry, has been in talks to build a manufacturing plant in the eastern German state of Saxony since 2021.
The plant will be TSMC's first in Europe and will play a crucial role for the German government's ambitions to boost the domestic chip industry. The new factory is scheduled to be operational in 2027 and is expected to produce 40,000 300mm wafers per month.
Earlier, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck said in a statement, "With TSMC's investment, another global player in the semiconductor industry has come to Germany. This shows that Germany is an attractive and competitive place."
