The global chip semiconductor industry has become unbalanced under the impact of multiple factors such as the new crown epidemic, the global shortage of cores and the slowdown in demand for mobile consumer electronics.
July 1 news, market research firm Omdia recently released a data pointed out that since 2021 Q1 for five consecutive quarters since the revenue surge, this year (2022) Q1, the global semiconductor market revenue from 2021 Q4 of $ 159.35 billion, down to $ 159.3 billion, down 0.03% YoY. For the first time, there are signs of quarterly revenue slowdown.
At present, Qualcomm, Intel and other chip giants have begun to "cut the single action". According to Tianfeng International analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Qualcomm has cut Snapdragon 8 series orders by about 10-15%, and is expected to end the year will be two flagship mobile chip price cuts of 30-40% to clear inventory. And Intel CFO Dave Zinsner has said that PC chip revenue is facing a decline crisis.
Meanwhile, the automotive industry is still facing a shortage of core dilemma. late June, Guangzhou Automobile Group Chairman Zeng Qinghong said in a speech, the first half of 2022, the shortage of chips and the impact of the epidemic, Guangzhou Automobile cut production of 160,000 vehicles, the output loss of about 20 billion yuan. He revealed that GAC faced a chip shortage of up to 33,000 chips in the second quarter.
Omdia semiconductor chief analyst He Hui, said in an interview that the entire semiconductor industry has now entered a downward cycle. Consumer electronics chip prices have fallen back and demand has slowed down, but automotive, HPC and other fields are still facing a shortage of core dilemma. The main reason behind this is that the cycle of changing to a new cell phone has become longer, as well as the global economy and consumer power has changed after the epidemic, and the desire for consumption of electronic products has decreased.
