comprehensive foreign media reports, the escalation of the Ukrainian crisis near the first anniversary of the EU again on Russia, want to wield the tenth round of sanctions stick. The EU not only wants Russia to lose more than 10 billion euros this time, but also includes Iranian entities on the sanctions list for the first time. It is reported that the 10th round of sanctions includes a ban on trade in technology exports worth 11 billion euros, and will also include Iranian entities that supply drones to Russia for the first time.
The latest news shows that the European Union announced on the 15th to implement the tenth round of sanctions against Russia, prohibiting the export of related industrial products and dual-use products to Russia, and will also sanction seven Iranian entities.
According to the statement issued by the European Commission President von der Leyen on the same day, the European Commission proposed to ban exports to Russia of industrial products worth more than 11 billion euros, such as electronic products, special cars, mechanical parts, truck parts, aircraft engine parts, etc., but also not allowed to export cranes, antennas and other construction equipment to Russia.
The EU will also further tighten export controls on dual-use products and high-tech products, banning the export of 47 types of electronic components, specific rare earth materials, infrared thermal imaging devices, etc. to Russia.
On dual-use export controls, Von der Leyen mentioned in particular that the EU intends to "blacklist" seven Iranian entities from exporting sensitive products and technologies to Russia, adding that sanctions against more Iranian entities or entities from other countries cannot be ruled out in the future.
In addition, the European Commission proposes to impose sanctions on nearly 100 Russian individuals and entities, such as government officials, parliamentarians, media organisations, etc., freezing their assets under EU jurisdiction, banning them from entering the EU and prohibiting cit izens and entities of EU member states from providing funds to them.
In accordance with EU procedures, the Commission's sanctions package will then be sent to EU member states for consideration and will only be implemented if they unanimously approve it.
So far, Russia has not yet responded to the EU's tenth round of sanctions proposals. Earlier, Russian diplomatic bu spokesperson Zakharova said in reference to the EU's development of sanctions against Russia that Russia would respond to all sanctions in its own national interests. "Russia has learned to live with the sanctions."
However, some analysts say that the EU's blind following of the US in constantly imposing sanctions on Russia has gradually been self-defeating. The EU's exports to Russia have been drastically reduced, leading to a tense supply situation in Europe, soaring energy and commodity prices and adding to the woes of the European economy.
It has also been reported that since the escalation of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, the EU has joined the US in imposing severe sanctions on Russia, but the backlash effect of the sanctions has led to a tightening of energy supplies in Europe, soaring prices and unbearable suffering for the European public.
