LG launches new range of OLED TVs

LG Electronics has launched a new line of OLED TVs in Taiwan, including its Objet series, with the goal of increasing sales of OLED TVs by 30 percent in 2022 compared to the same period last year.

The new products include its 4K G2 and C2 OLED series, Objet Collection series and QNED miniLED backlit TVs. LG Taiwan said at a recent product event in Taipei that the G2 series is available in 83-inch, 65-inch and 55-inch sizes, and the company plans to launch a 97-inch model in the fourth quarter of 2022.
The C2 Series OLED TVs are available in 83-inch, 65-inch, 55-inch, 48-inch and 42-inch sizes, with prices ranging from NT$59,900 to NT$394,900 (US$2,037 to US$13,427).
The company highlighted a 65-inch OLED Objet TV, powered by its fifth-generation a9 processor and paired with ThinQ AI apps. According to company sources, the Objet series models are designed for creativ e events and business activities.
LG also introduced a new QNED miniLED backlight series featuring LG's quantum dot and nano-cell technologies.While most market watchers are conservative about TV demand in the second half of the year, LG believes that it will be the entry-level and mid-range models that will be most affected, with sales of high-end models continuing to gain momentum.
However, sources in LG Taiwan noted that despite the recent drop in panel prices, the price and logistics costs of related TV chips remain high.
Although the tight supply of some TV chips has eased, the sources continue to say that the TV industry still faces the challenge of ensuring an adequate supply of TV processors, leading to increased cost pressure on TV manufacturers.
