Mediatek today introduced two new entry-level Kompanio chips, 520 and 528, which will ship in entry-level Chromebooks in the first half of 2023.
The chips are said to bring more performance and battery life to entry-level Chromebooks. It is designed to allow consumers to seamlessly browse, Play in the cloud, stream and use Google Play apps on their laptops without worrying about battery life.
he Kompanio 520 and 528 chips are essentially upgrades to the existing Kompanio 500 SoC. Both new chipsets offer eight-core cpus, including two Cortex-A76 cores and six A55 cores. It can bring 2GHz and 2.2GHz main frequency.
They also feature upgraded dual-core Gpus that are optimized for power consumption to provide longer battery life.
These two chips also bring a number of new features, such as 32MP shooting support, but also the Mediatek hardware graphics engine support, better low-light shooting effect, and support for VP9 decoding and H.265 encoding, providing a 2x performance boost in this area. In addition, there is an ultra-low power HiFi-5 DSP to process audio data.
