Pulsiv Launches World Leading Power Electronics Technology to Reduce Energy Consumption and Optimize System Costs

        September 27, 2022: Pulsiv, a Cambridge-based startup, today announced for the first time a new power electronics product, Pulsiv OSMIUM. Pulsiv OSMIUM uses its patented technology to convert AC to DC, charging/discharging small storage capacitors without the need for PFC inductors. This unique solution provides high power factor, consistent high efficiency and ultra-compact system design. the Pulsiv OSMIUM technology can be used to improve overall system efficiency, optimize costs and help reduce global energy consumption.
The Pulsiv OSMIUM microcontroller family and supporting components can be combined with commonly used flyback DC-DC converters to replace higher cost LLC solutions. pulsiv's universal input, single switch 150W flyback power supply design provides an average front-end efficiency of 97.5% (99.5% peak), capable of maintaining 90% efficiency at 2W. Pulsiv is currently developing a 240W interleaved flyback circuit and a reference design with higher power capability. instead of directly determining the output power, the Pulsiv OSMIUM microcontroller can be used as a platform for any application requiring 1W to 10kW by simply adjusting the three system components and connecting the appropriate DC/DC converter. the Pulsiv OSMIUM microcontroller is now available in two sample models, PSV-AD-150 and PSV-AD-250.
 

 
      The key components in the Pulsiv OSMIUM circuitry operate at low temperatures (even under convection cooling conditions) to extend their expected lifetime. By regulating the current through the charge capacitor, Pulsiv completely eliminates inrush current, which means manufacturers of industrial power supplies and LED lighting products can simplify their designs and reduce system installation costs. Finally, Pulsiv OSMIUM technology supports active bridge control, configurable hysteresis, X-Cap discharge, HVDC output selection, power consumption indicator and grid fault detection, and users can select these optional features as needed to meet the needs of different end applications.
