Qorvo Introduces Industry's First C-Band BAW Bandpass Filter and Switch/LNA Module for 5G Small Cell Base Stations

        Qorvo, a leading global provider of connectivity and power solutions, announces the QPQ3509, North America's first body acoustic wave (BAW) 280MHz bandpass filter for the new 5G C-band; and the QPB9850, a compact, highly integrated front-end switch/LNA module for the RF front-end of 5G base stations. The C-band coverage of the QPQ3509 combined with the QPB9850's high integration and compact design make these devices ideal for 5G small cell base station applications where size and weight are key metrics.
 
 
        As the first massive 'frenetic' deployment phase of 5G wanes in developed markets such as North America, operators are shifting their focus to the second phase, which is network densification using towers and small cell base stations," said Kyung Mun, principal analyst at Mobile Experts, Inc. Mobile Experts forecasts 5G small cell base stations to grow at a compound annual growth rate of 9% over the next five years. In North America, we see a significant increase in annual outdoor small cell shipments for operators over the next three years as they look to use small cells to further expand network capacity within their expanding 5G network footprint using their mid-band/C-band spectrum." 
        The QPQ3509 filter covers the 3.7-3.98GHz 5G band in a compact 2.0mm x 1.6mm package for base station applications. The low insertion loss combined with the high out-of-band attenuation makes this filter an excellent choice for 5G C-band applications. The QPQ3509 is also part of Qorvo's broad RF BAW and surface acoustic wave (SAW) filter portfolio. 
        The QPB9850 is a wideband, single-channel switching LNA module with an integrated 2-stage LNA that provides functionality across 2.3-5GHz, thus supporting all 5G bands including n41, n77, n78 and n79. The QPB9850 offers 34dB of gain at 3.6GHz with a 1.1dB noise figure and high linearity of 31dBm OIP3. The QPB9850 is available in a highly compact RoHS compliant 3mm x 3mm LGA package.
