Samsung Announces New Generation 5G Modem: Exynos Modem 5300

        Samsung announced the launch of a new generation 5G modem, the Exynos Modem 5300. In the past, Samsung's latest cellular modem will appear alongside its flagship Exynos processor. However, as Samsung will not have a high-end Exynos SoC launched this year, a new cellular modem has been released separately.
 
 
        The Exynos Modem 5300 is manufactured using Samsung's 4nm EUV process, which is a significant improvement over the previous 7nm EUV process used by the Exynos Modem 5123, making the power efficiency much higher than previous generations of products. It provides peak download speeds of up to 10 Gbps and peak upload speeds of up to 3.87 Gbps, with ultra-low latency, and supports FR1, FR2, and EN-DC technologies. In addition, the Exynos Modem 5300 supports millimeter wave (mmWave) and sub 6GHz 5G networks in both SA (independent) and NSA (non independent) modes.
        The Exynos Modem 5300 is compatible with 3GPP's 5G NR Release 16 standard, which aims to make 5G networks faster and more efficient. In LTE mode, the Exynos Modem 5300 supports a peak download speed of up to 3Gbps and a peak upload speed of up to 422Mbps. It can be connected to a smartphone chipset through PCIe. However, Samsung did not specify whether the Exynos Modem 5300 supports dual card and dual standby functionality.
        In terms of paper specifications, Samsung's Exynos Modem 5300 is similar to Qualcomm's Snapdragon X70, which can provide a peak download speed of 10Gbps and a peak upload speed of 5Gbps on a 5G network. It is understood that the Exynos Modem 5300 will be adopted by Google's flagship products Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro launched this year.
