("Socionext"), a leader in SoC design and application technology, announced the successful development of the fourth generation of its SC1721/SC1722/SC1723 family of in-vehicle display controllers. The series of products have passed the ISO 26262 safety certification for functional safety and are expected to be delivered to customers as samples from the end of July 2022.
The automotive industry is currently undergoing a once-in-a-century transformation, with automotive electronic and electrical architectures evolving from distributed to domain-controlled or centralized supercomputing hardware architectures, and more and more OEMs adopting integrated cockpit systems that integrate dashboard, in-vehicle infotainment (IVI), HUD head-up display and other functions. In addition, in-vehicle displays are also showing the development trend of widescreen and high-definition.
Socionext has long been committed to developing in-vehicle display controllers. The company's newly developed fourth-generation in-vehicle display controller is equipped with APIX®3 SerDes repeater, which supports daisy-chaining multiple intelligent display controllers, and up to four displays can be connected to a single chain. Socionext's self-developed SEERIS® 2D graphics IP integrates a number of advanced features, such as LED control and pixel compensation through Local Dimming technology, Warping-on-the-fly technology for dynamic control of warp maps, and a new generation of in-vehicle display controllers. The SEERIS® 2D graphics IP integrates several advanced functions, such as LED control and pixel compensation through Local Dimming technology, and dynamic compensation of warp map using Warping-on-the-fly technology.
In terms of safety, the fourth generation of in-vehicle display controller adds a new mechanism to detect external LED driver errors and internal algorithms to improve vehicle safety. The series of chips are developed in strict accordance with ISO 26262 functional safety design, and the single chip meets ASIL-B level requirements.
Socionext's fourth-generation in-vehicle display controller can perfectly meet the latest architectural changes in automobiles, as well as the development trend of wide-screen and multi-screen in-vehicle displays.
