Supermicro, Inc. a full-service IT solutions provider for cloud, AI/ML, storage and 5G/smart edge applications, announced models in its groundbreaking ultra-high performance, high density petabyte-class All-Flash NVMe server family. The systems Supermicro is introducing in this high-performance storage product family will support next-generation EDSFF form factors, including E3.S and E1.S units in form factors that can accommodate 16 and 32 high-performance PCIe Gen5 NVMe drive slots.

Supermicro New E3.S and E1.S Petascale Storage Systems Portfolio
The initial launch of the updated product family will support up to 1/2 PB of storage in 1U 16-slot rackmount systems, followed by 1 PB of storage for Intel and AMD PCIe Gen5 platforms in 2U 32-slot rackmount systems.
Supermicro will continue to focus on current and future workloads, introducing innovative solutions to meet the needs of our users," said Charles Liang, president and CEO of Supermicro. By providing petabytes of storage capacity in a standard rack-mount system, users will be able to access massive amounts of data quickly and effortlessly. Lightweight and power-efficient, the new storage systems will provide our users with industry-leading low latency and high bandwidth. These new systems offer outstanding performance and capacity, allowing customers to easily gain deep insight using advanced artificial intelligence technologies. With our build-to-suit portfolio architecture, we can bring new technologies to market faster, providing users with systems in the middle of Rack scale's full range of IT solutions."
Supermicro's petabyte-class All-Flash servers deliver industry-leading storage performance and capacity, helping customers reduce the amount of data they need to meet their hot storage needs. This enables customers to reduce the number of rackmount systems needed to meet their hot and warm tier storage requirements, thereby reducing TCO.
These new Intel-based systems feature two 4th generation Intel Xeon scalable processors with up to 270W TDP and up to 32 DDR5-4800MHz memory DIMMs for a total of 8TB of memory, while the AMD-based systems feature 4th generation AMD EPYC. These systems are designed for compute-intensive applications with large I/O requirements and large memory requirements.
Supermicro's new system features two full-height, half-length PCIe Gen5 x16 slots that support advanced xPUs and intelligent NICs, allowing users to choose from the emerging NVMe-Over-Fabric or GPU-accelerated storage that is currently disrupting the traditional IT space for smoother operation. In addition, two additional Supermicro PCIe Gen5 x16 AIOM (Advanced I/O Module) slots enhance field serviceability and plug-in compatibility with a variety of existing OCP 3.0 network cards. The system features a new NUMA balanced symmetric architecture that provides a short signal path to the drive, balanced storage bandwidth, and multiple flexible networking options to reduce latency. At the same time, the symmetrical design helps to allow smooth airflow throughout the system so that higher performance processors can be selected.
