The Melexis has launched its first smaller and more compact micro-angle encoder chip

         On July 1, 2022, Belgium thyssendello global microelectronics engineering company melexis announced today that it will launch mlx90381 micro angle encoder chip that meets the aec-q100/iso 26262 standard, helping to improve the ease of use and reliability of industrial and automotive applications. This angle encoder chip is packaged in a compact dfn-6 (size 2 mm ×  2.5 mm), which can realize the miniaturization of electromechanical system with sensor. The solution complies with ASIL standard and can be programmed at module level, which is very suitable for rotor position detection.
        Melexis, a global microelectronics engineering company, launched a micro 3D magnetic angle decoder chip mlx90381. The device combines many advantages. It is not only small in size, but also has reliable ana log output, which can provide sine and cosine signals.
        Mlx90381 utilizes melexis' unique triaxis ®  Hall technology can easily realize rotor position detection. The device can be used for absolute rotation position detection. With its low delay and fast response characteristics, it can measure the speed of more than 50000 rpm. 
        This micro angle decoder chip can not only improve low-speed accuracy and noise performance, but also support locked rotor detection. The device is suitable for DC, brushless DC (BLDC) and permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM) in applications such as electric valves and electric bicycle motors. At the same time, this angle decoder chip complies with aec-q100 and ISO 26262 (ASIL B seooc) standards, and is very suitable for safety related systems in automobiles. 
        Mlx90381 can be easily matched with melexis intelligent embedded Lin driver chip series. It includes the drive chip mlx81330/32 (up to 10 W) for directly driving wings, valves, and single coil fans and pumps. In addition, the device can also be used with the pre drive chip mlx81340/44/46 (up to 2000 W) used in electric blower, engine cooling fan, pump, window regulator, seat adjuster and sunroof. 
        Because the magnetic field axis is optional (x/y - x/z - z/y), mlx90381 can realize the position detection on the axis and the through detection outside the axis. Through the I2C interface of the device, the sensitivity and filter bandwidth of each axis can be programmed directly. The special high-sensitivity version of this micro angle decoder chip can further suppress the interference of external stray magnetic field.
        Mlx90381 is packaged in compact dfn-6. Only three external capacitors are needed to form a complete circuit.
